The Key to Awesome Employees

What’s the key to awesome employees?
Keeping them happy and inspired of course! Yet, the issue in doing this is that it isn’t as simple as it sounds. Leaders and bosses struggle to inspire their employees, and to keep them happy, for a number of different reasons. Most commonly, these reasons include getting hung up on various projects and forgetting to make “pit-stops” along the way, a lacking awareness of what truly inspires each employee on an individual basis, and simply being unaware of the ways to go about it.
Did you know that only 19% of employees claim to be satisfied with their job?
One great way to inspire your employees is allowing them to earn time off. Offering employees a chance to win “personal days” through hard work and a job well done, is not only rewarding, but motivating as well. As a matter of fact, employees tend to enjoy earned time off much more than time off that is merely handed to them. Something you can also do to inspire employees is publicly recognize them for their job well done. During lunch time or a break with your staff, announce that they’ve earned time off due to their hard work on such and such project. Incorporate a few details on why they did such a great job as well.
Another way to inspire employees is to allow them to work from home every now and again. Allowing employees this freedom lets them know that you trust them and their work ethic. Not only is this a great way to motivate, but giving them the privilege to work from their cozy home allows them some extra relaxation time, which is sure to make them happy.
Furthermore, many companies have found that allowing their employees a few days away from work each year, in order for them to volunteer at their favorite charities, has significantly strengthened employee retention rates. Doing good simply makes one feel good.
Bringing these kind of feelings to the workplace is essential to a happy and inspired staff.
In terms of keeping your employees happy, it’s simple! You must find ways to bring relaxation to the workplace. My personal suggestion is bringing a yoga instructor into the office, to host one or two yoga classes each week. Trust me, your employees will be thrilled!
Lastly, don’t forget to stop along the way of your daily routine and celebrate employee accomplishments. This lets your staff know you care about them, and appreciate their work. One way to go about doing this is to print out personal business cards. As a matter of fact, you can print these right from your computer!
